Open-world survival crafting game
Abiotic Factor is a premium sci-fi action horror game by developer Deep Field Games. It's a first-person multiplayer survival crafting adventure featuring horror and supports up to six players. In it, they will need to work together as they navigate interdimensional realms and battle all sorts of monsters.
Abiotic Factor is much like the classic Half-Life game, featuring 90s aesthetics with sci-fi themes that will have players go up against otherworldly hostile creatures that attack anything in sight. It also features base-building elements, wherein they can establish a base and conduct research to help them on their journey.
Think tank
In Abiotic Factor, you play a scientist who recently got a PhD and is starting your first day at work in the GATE Cascade Research Facility. You go about your duties like normal but as you get acclimated to your new workplace, you start to notice strange things happening with your co-workers, like reading e-mails about otherworldly encounters and seeing photos of alien creatures wrestling with each other in some images.
You realize your new work is a living nightmare you're trapped in, and you have no choice but to work together and survive. Scavenge resources to build your case and to create items you need when you venture out. Earn a PhD that grants you unique skills and specializations essential to your survival and to tackle whatever dangerous situation or enemy you come up against, each with its offense and defense.
However, the game has some flaws as it suffers from occasional bugs, performance issues, and balancing problems. Some crafting recipes can be overly complex. Also, the user interface could benefit from further refinement to improve clarity and ease of use. The story, while intriguing, is fragmented, relying on environmental storytelling and scattered notes to piece together the narrative. While this can be effective, many people prefer a more direct storyline.
Nerd power
Abiotic Factor shows the potential to be a great multiplayer survival game. From its charming visuals and presentation to its clever premise, there's a lot to like. Geeks and nerds take center stage for once and their goofy nature counterbalances the dark and horrific nature of the story. Despite some performance issues and story clarity, this is still worth checking out and experiencing it on yourself with its intriguing elements.
