WSOC-TV Weather App is a free weather application developed by Cox Media Group Inc. for Android users. This app is designed to provide accurate weather forecasts and critical weather alerts to users in the Charlotte market. Chief Meteorologist Steve Udelson and Severe Weather Center 9 meteorologists have made the app even better by incorporating new features such as a radar with 250 meter resolution and future radar for storm outlooks. The app also includes new tracks for earthquakes and storm tracks as layers in the radar. Users can select a location inside the Charlotte market to see a locally crafted forecast created by WSOC-TV’s local weather experts. Push alerts for more than 25 alert types, including tornado warnings, winter storm warnings, and tropical storm alert types, are free.

The WSOC-TV Weather App provides current conditions, hourly and daily forecasts for any location users enter. It also has high resolution satellite cloud imagery, the ability to add and save locations, and a fully integrated GPS for current location awareness. The app offers location-based alerts, which issue for the most dangerous types of weather threats, providing more precision to users. The app works with identical features on tablet and handset, and additional items are added seasonally. However, it is important to note that the data and alerting is only available for the United States.
