UniquePasswordBuilder is a Chrome add-on developed by paulgreg that aims to enhance online security by generating strong and unique passwords for each website. With the increasing number of online accounts, it has become crucial to use different passwords for each site to prevent security breaches. However, remembering numerous complex passwords can be a challenge.

UniquePasswordBuilder simplifies this process by allowing users to create strong passwords based on a single master password. When on a login page, users simply click on the lock icon and enter their master password. The add-on then generates a unique password for that specific site. Users can easily copy the generated password to the clipboard and paste it into the login form.

To ensure the utmost security, the master password is hashed multiple times using the scrypt algorithm, making it resistant to brute force attacks. Additionally, users have the option to set a user salt, further enhancing protection against rainbow table attacks.

Unlike other password tools that store passwords in an encrypted database, UniquePasswordBuilder does not rely on a central database. Instead, it recomputes the password each time, eliminating the need for syncing between devices.
