Typhon Mod is a single-player campaign mod for the first-person shooter game Doom II. Featuring overhauled gameplay mechanics, a new original soundtrack, as well as new enemies and weapons, Typhon Mod offers a new perspective to the second installment in the Doom franchise.

Drawing inspiration from the genre-defining System Shock 2, released in 1999, the Typhon Mod’s campaign is set in an open-world spaceship that will throw challenges your way. How you tackle them will determine your success.

Play from a new perspective

Building on the story of Doom II, the Typhoon Mod is an action-survival conversion of the game with horror elements. As enemies stalk you throughout the spaceship, you’re tasked with killing them before they kill you, all while collecting essential inventory items for your survival.

Typhon Mod features many new assets, including art, sounds, and in-game features. The mod also includes new non-playable characters and newly recorded dialogue. With the ability to play co-op as well, the game’s story changes to account for multiple players.

New characters to encounter

In addition to new NPCs, the Typhon Mod adds the character of Corporal Jenkins to Doom II. Corporal Jenkins is a custom boss that has several characteristics. Not only is he particularly fast, but he’s also partially transparent and possesses the ability to teleport. Equipped with an Uzi, he is a particularly dangerous threat.

That said, your character also receives an upgrade in the Doom II Typhon Mod. New weapons, each available for different player classes, are paired with increased ammo for more intense firepower. Tactical gear is also improved with the addition of a flashlight.

An updated classic FPS

Since its release in 1999, Doom II has been a fan favorite with plenty of replay value. But if you’re looking for a new take on the classic, the Typhon Mod tweaks the game just enough to offer a new gaming experience.
