Please Date Me, Diana!
A visual novel about romantically involved witches
Soul-like RPG
Thymesia is a third-person roleplaying game developed by OverBorder Studio. In this grueling action RPG, players will play a mysterious character named Corvus. He was an amnesiac, and plenty of the game will be spent collecting his memories.
Thymesia is proudly styled after the Souls series and plays like a typical Souls game. Here, players will navigate the streets, dungeons, and caverns of a ruined nation. The game is combined with different choices that affect its ending. The developers also offer a free-form upgrade system that lets you define your playstyle. These choices extend beyond combat too.
In Thymesia, you will play as a plague doctor-esque warrior code-named Corvus. Here, you are trapped in a kingdom crumbling at the hand of disease. Like the Souls franchise, which this game is inspired by, you will navigate the streets, dungeons, and caverns where you fight enemies and gruesome bosses. The combat looks like a frenetic mix of parries, fast dodges, and flashy melee combats.
There are also interesting special attacks that siphon the plague from the enemies and convert it into weapons. You can make a range of weapons, ranging from scythes and spears to daggers and claws. You can also assume a raven form during the fight and hurl lethal feathers at enemies. Alongside his mundane arms are phantasmal attacks that resemble Weapon Arts and Skills from Dark Souls 3 and Elden Ring.
The biggest part of the gameplay is collecting Corvus' memories. Along with the choices you make, these memories can affect the ending of the game. Depending on your progress, you may have a different ending than the other players. More than multiple endings, the game also boasts a free-form upgrade system that lets you customize your playstyle and combat. However, these options are fewer than the average Souls game.
Overall, Thymesia offers a promising experience, especially to Souls fans. It has an interesting premise made better by the grueling combat. Players will also appreciate the customization that the game offers. Even better, it has multiple endings, which promises replayability. The spells and items may be fewer than in the Souls franchise but it does commit to diversity. However, like the popular series, this game requires a high-performing device.
