The Spirit of the Samurai is an adventure game inspired by Japanese mythology, in which you play as a Japanese samurai named Takeshi who must take it upon his hands to safeguard his village from an Oni trying to take hold of the said land with an undead army. 

The Spirit of the Samurai features 2D graphics with state-of-the-art stop-motion-style animation. It also offers an atmospheric gameplay comparable to games like Soulslike and Metroidvania with its highly detailed environments and thematic character designs, fully immersing players in the mythological world of Japanese folklore. 

Protect the village 

Set across the mystical and dangerous world of Japanese mythology and folklore in The Spirit of the Samurai. Here, not only do you take the role of Takeshi the samurai. You also assume the role of Kodama, a tiny strong-willed spirit, and Chisai, a combatant cat. With these three characters, you can fight all sorts of entity, including hordes of demons and monsters. 

Each character deals with the world differently, allowing users to utilize certain characters for specific purposes, such as heated combats using various weaponry—including a traditional katana, a multi-purpose spear, and a long-ranged bow—and platforming for exploration. In this world, you can roam villages’ ruins, mountain caves, desolate cemeteries, and many more, where you can encounter enemies. Use combos to unleash hidden magical powers linked. 

You can edit a specific combination of skills through an in-game combo editor, letting you deal with challenging, dynamic, and unique enemies effectively. The experience you obtain from eliminating opponents grants you the ability to enhance skills, upgrade stats, and master moves. However, this game still has elements to work on, like putting the right audio for each language support.

Overall, The Spirit of the Samurai is an adventure-filled game that tackles Japanese mythology and folklore through the lens of various characters, such as a samurai, a spirit, and a cat. Here, you must protect the village from an Oni who wants to conquer the said land. Unfortunately, this does not have the full audio support for the languages supported except English.
