The Grand Mafia is a strategy game from YottaGame. It puts players in control of a young member of a local crime family whose mission is to recover lost territories and take over the entire city. To do so, you must build your base of operations and recruit an endless stream of hitmen. You will also battle other crime families and take over their territory. The Grand Mafia is your typical crime game. In fact, everything that the game offers has been done by other similar games.

Same old gameplay

The Grand Mafia follows the footsteps of popular crime game titles, such as Mafia City, Rise of the Kings, and War and Order. Like the above-mentioned games, your mission in the game is to expand your crime family by recruiting members and building your criminal enterprise. It also has the typical storyline of betrayal and revenge. There is also a bit of government conspiracy revealed with all the fanfare of discovering a hangnail.

The story chapter is also something you've seen before, starting with a short, visual novel-style cut scene. Then, you will receive five tasks to accomplish—at least four of them involve building or upgrading something. Periodically, you will also need to fight a rival gang, but that's only a fight between low-resolution sprites. There are other activities as well, although most happen off-screen. You can rob, launder money, and hack computers. All of which only requires clicking a button until the bar fills up.

Aside from story mode, there's a Campaign mode. Despite the name, it has little to do with the actual story. Here, you can fight rival gangsters by sending up to five of your named enforcers. You can collect these enforcers as you play, but you can also purchase them. Each has a unique ability that can help you win battles. Don't be fooled by how cool it sounds, though. This mode’s gameplay consists of auto-attacking while you wait for the ability to charge. There’s nothing much that you’ll do. 

Disappointing and boring

Overall, The Grand Mafia is a game that will disappoint fans of gangster games. It follows the game storyline and gameplay that other crime games offer. However, unlike popular titles, there's nothing exciting to see here. How the story plays out is boring, and the combat is disappointing. The characters are paper-thin stereotypes and look like they belong on a cover of trashy novels. Moreover, it has a cluttered interface and dated graphics. It is lazy and unengaging and is anything but grand.
