The Chronicles of Myrtana is a software modification package intended to be used in conjunction with the original Gothic II game. This single-player community-made mod is free to download. However, users will first need to fully install Gothic II.

The Chronicles of Myrtana offers a host of unique features. It now includes a larger open world, enhanced player mechanics, new skills to obtain, and a complex storyline. Note that all of these will complement the existing elements found in the Gothic II package.

Non-linear quests

Many fans of the Gothic franchise were drawn to this game due to the number of quests that they could perform. The Chronicles of Myrtana provides additional options, including more than 170 quests in total. The outcomes themselves will depend on the actions that players take.

Unexpected surprises

There are also times when random events will occur that would not have been encountered in the standard storyline. Thanks to more than 200 of these scenarios, players will need to keep on their toes.

Improved crafting and economy

It is now possible to perform novel types of crafting. Examples include learning alchemy, cooking, and writing magical scrolls. The open-world economy has been impressively overhauled in order to provide more balanced options when purchasing in-game items.

20 years of improvements

The Chronicles of Myrtana mod has taken 20 years of player feedback into account. Offering countless RPG options like those associated with newer games, including The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, this free software extension is said to provide more than 60 hours of total playtime. It has received overwhelmingly positive reviews, and improvements tend to occur on a regular basis.
