Stop Dead is a premium action game for PC by developer Gridsnap Games LLC. It is a first-person platformer featuring superpowers and sci-fi themes. In the distant future, players take on the role of vigilantes set out to stop a rogue AI hellbent on destroying its creators and the city.

Combining the thrilling platforming mechanics of Mirror's Edge Catalyst with the supernatural themes of Control, Stop Dead offers a unique experience at a breakneck pace and over-the-top gameplay. Everything is presented using a distinct cel-shaded art style and plenty of humor to round out the package.

Everything and the kitchen sink

Set in the distant future, the world in Stop Dead is filled with tech-fueled cities, with the prevalence of AI across everyday life. However, one AI has gone rogue and is now hellbent on destroying its creators, and you find yourself mixed up in all of it. However, you are anything but ordinary yourself, having telekinetic superpowers. Complete missions as you navigate through the ensuing chaos.

Speed and flow is the name of the game. Jump and slide through comic-inspired environments while keeping your momentum going. This is also one of those instances wherein everything is a weapon. Given the over 100 throwable objects available to pull and push toward enemies, you have all kinds of ways to destroy anyone or anything in your path.

Environments host multiple unique bosses whom you need to defeat in order to progress. Quick reflexes and thinking are your best weapons against them, so again, keep moving. There's also Twitch integration, so you can stream gameplay with others online. Keep in mind that this game is still in Early Access and actively being developed. Expect more content and fixes to come in future updates.

You snooze, you lose

Overall, Stop Dead is one thrilling platformer-shooter hybrid that is a lot of fun to play. The sense of movement and verticality feels nice and the telekinetic powers are awesome. Take some time to learn the platforming aspect, but once you do, it feels fluid and natural. In its current state, it's already pretty impressive. Just note that it's still in the Early Access phase. Recommended.
