So what is Spades, and how does it work?

Spades is a card game for four players, where the object of the game is to gain the most points at the end of the round. Each player receives 13 cards at the start of the game, and an additional 14 cards at the end of the round. These additional cards are not revealed to the players, but are instead held by the game server.
