Soulstone Survivors is a premium top-down rogue-like game that provides the ability to gain powerful skills, upgrade weapons, and participate in bullet hell battles. While appreciating the basics is rather easy, mastering what is in store will require true talent. There’s also a free demo available. 

Soulstone Survivors provides various gameplay options, such as the ability for players to choose which courses to participate in. These provide players with a greater degree of customization. This action game offers many of the same hack-and-slash elements often seen in other extremely popular games, such as Diablo II and Devil May Cry 4. 

Extensive ways to play 

Soulstone Survivors masterfully blends deep RPG mechanics with roguelike elements, offering a rich and condensed action RPG experience. With nearly 200 unique active skills to explore, a comprehensive skill tree to progress through using Soulstones, and 14 characters to unlock and play, Soulstone Survivors ensures a diverse and engaging gameplay experience. The game encourages experimentation with hundreds of passive skills and runes, allowing players to extensively customize their characters.  

Each of the 15 classes in the game offers four weapons to choose from, each with two unique abilities. Additionally, each character boasts three unique abilities, complemented by general abilities available to all characters. Newcomers to the genre will appreciate the variety and depth without needing to delve into meta-gaming. Players earn currency by killing enemies and destroying objects, with higher curse levels offering greater bonuses and faster progression.  Although there are building constraints. 

A bullet-hell power fantasy realized 

The "Master of Machines" update introduces several significant enhancements to Soulstone Survivors, highlighted by the addition of a new Void Hunter character, the Engineer. The Engineer leverages advanced machinery, using powerful turrets and mechanical allies to fight against the corrupt creatures of the Void. This new character also brings unique abilities like endless ammunition supplies and portable nukes, enhancing gameplay variety and strategic depth. However, the balancing issues can ruin it for some. 

Soulstone Survivors also added the Samurai. What makes the Samurai especially engaging is his unique kit tailored around countering and combos. Some of his core abilities have conditional effects, making it tactical yet rewarding. His starting weapon, the Onikami Blades, enhances dash cooldowns and critical damage, encouraging mobility-heavy builds. When upgraded, Samurai can access powerful rune combos that boost movement speed or apply vulnerability to enemies he slashes. 

A masterful, action-packed roguelike 

Soulstone Survivors offers a compelling and richly layered action RPG experience. The game's extensive skill tree, diverse characters, and customizable abilities provide a broad and engaging gameplay experience. While the power balance issues and effective build constraints can limit the perceived endless possibilities, the game's overall design, variety, and progression system ensure it remains captivating for both new and seasoned players.
