What is Shwaas?

Shwaas is a mobile app developed to aid healthcare workers and caregivers to screen and triage patients with COVID-like symptoms. It is an open source app, developed in India. It is currently available in 6 Indian languages.

The tool was designed to help healthcare workers and caregivers decide whether a person with COVID-like symptoms can be managed at home without consulting a doctor (Green), needs consultation (Yellow) or needs admission and detailed work up at a hospital (Red). It is designed to be used by healthcare workers and caregivers in 2 ways:

1. When a person has COVID-like symptoms, he/she can download the app and self-screen. The app will ask the person questions and generate a report.

2. Healthcare workers and caregivers can also use the app to screen patients who have not yet been diagnosed with COVID-like symptoms but who may need treatment. The app will ask the patients questions and generate a report.
