Additional subquest and content for SMT V: Vengeance
Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance - Demon Subquest - Holy Will and Profane Dissent is a premium downloadable content (DLC) that adds a new subquest and a recruitable character to the role-playing game from Altus, Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance. The titular quest, Holy Will and Profane Dissent, sees the protagonist investigating a mysterious reaction and meeting the earth's mother goddess.
Aside from the main quest, this DLC also marks the return of the demon Dagda, who had a significant role in the previous entry, Shin Megami Tensei IV. Players can also check out the original version with Shin Megami Tensei V.
A new subquest with a familiar face
The main offering of Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance - Demon Subquest - Holy Will and Profane Dissent is a new late-game quest. Players must’ve reached a certain point in the game. The quest starts after talking to the Bethel researcher in the Tokyo Diet Building. This will send you into a new, mysterious location where you meet Danu, the earth mother goddess from a world in another universe.
You’ll help her find her missing son, Dagda, who you can recruit as an ally. This also unlocks a new fusion. Despite SMT V: Vengeance not being connected to the previous entries story-wise, franchise fans recognize Dagda as a key character in SMT IV, witnessing the disappearance of a previous universe with the player character. His role in relation to the main storyline, or whether he’s confined to the DLC subplot, remains to be seen.
This DLC, together with Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance - Demon Subquest - Sakura Cinders of the East, is scheduled for a same-day release as the base game. Vengeance is required to play this DLC subquest. More importantly, you have to progress to a certain point in the base game before accessing it. You can obtain the entire package with Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance Digital Deluxe Edition.
A must-have connection to the rest of the franchise
Suppose you're a fan of Shin Megami Tensei and enjoy deep lore and character connections. In that case, Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance - Demon Subquest - Holy Will and Profane Dissent is a definite must-have. It introduces a compelling late-game quest with a familiar character, plus new fusion possibilities. However, note that progress in the base game is required to access this content.
