SCUM is a premium action game for PC developed by Gamepires. It's a multiplayer survival craft adventure wherein players will take on the role of a prisoner in a super-max facility. They must do everything to survive, which involves taking care of their bodies, building bases, and becoming the alpha.

Compared to games like Rust or The Long Dark, SCUM places great emphasis on the physiological aspect, with realistic simulations of things like health and disease that have a large impact on survivability. Players must traverse a vast landscape with multiple dangerous biomes as they keep their vitals in check.

Takes its inspiration from many games

SCUM mostly resembles Fallout New Vegas in terms of character customization, except that customization is far deeper and more complex. For example, strength attributes do more than determine your carry weight and gun-size ability. It is an open-world survival game with many things in common with State of Decay Year One. Most notably, the fact that you can hold up in a location, although you will have to go out and search for food and goods if you wish to continue surviving.

On the other hand, when it comes to the game's visuals, the graphics are detailed, and many of the visuals are lush and conducive to each area. Although this also means that the game's visuals can be demanding, which might lead you to turn the graphics quality down for your computer to accommodate the game’s demands on its core processors. 

Road to version 1.0

The game has been on Early Access for a while now, although the developers have been hard at work towards the game's highly anticipated version 1.0 release update. The island has been reworked to add new locations and points of interest for players to visit and explore, as well as the full implementation of the quest system, as players strive to earn money and fame.

Aside from further performance optimizations and bug fixes, the game has implemented an anti-cheat system to catch cheaters and ensure fair play for all. The upcoming release will also make the introduction of new NPCs arriving on the island that promise to take the whole survival experience to new heights and higher stakes for both its single-player and multiplayer modes.

SCUM has a level of depth and control that few other survival games have. The game sets a new standard in survival gaming, both in terms of game depth and graphics.
