Scavengers is an action survival game by Midwinter Entertainment Inc. This team-based game involves players cooperating against various hostels to survive in a mutated, winter wasteland. It provides exciting gameplay that combines both PvE and PvP mode.

The main goal is to escape the map through an extraction point. There will be three phases to encounter on each match—the build-up, the hunt, and the extraction. Role-playing game enjoyers can freely play this on Steam and Epic Games platforms. By far, it's still offered in early access mode thus, you can expect to possibly encounter bugs as the game proceeds. 

A promising development

Midwinter Entertainment is a Seattle-based, independent game developer formed by Josh Holmes and his team who have also previously contributed to the Battlezone and Halo franchise. Their recognition was for the development of the Guardian Warzone mode for Microsoft’s Halo 5. Scavengers are the very first major project that they produced independently. Over time, it has improved tons of game aspects—from essential to less significant. 

Frankly, it only showcases minimal backend issues since its early access game version was first released. For the record, four days after it opened to the public, the developers have applied all if not, most of the necessary updates including fixing crashing issues, making quality of life improvements, etc. Scavengers could pull every important enhancement that the game needs to experience the best gameplay through various and rigorous testings.     

A pack of mercenaries in the cold wasteland

Scavengers heavily emphasize a class-based team composition to the survival genre, blended with competitive and cooperative elements. Everything is unique and individual, yet each class must be picked carefully so that they have team synergy. Every round is riddled with puzzles given to everyone and each member must contribute to unlock every obstacle in the road. 

This action RPG game comes with peril in the cold environment. Players can expect raiders, beasts, violent weather conditions, health status, and even other hostile players. These elements are to be anticipated in every PvE game, except this one is set on an exotic planet with mutated denizens. The hazards that could kill an individual will force players to cooperate as a team rather than go guns blazing. 

It's a cooperative game that allows teams to compete against each other for accomplishing specific goals and live longer than the rest. Trust is important because no one knows when a player will backstab an unsuspecting ally. The stakes are higher when safety is compromised and resources are dwindling. It exhibits the same impression of games like Rust and DayZ where treachery comes to ill-intending, hostile players.
