Rogue Waters is a strategy game. It takes you into the swashbuckling world of pirates with tactical turn-based gameplay, playing as Captain Cutter on a quest for vengeance. Each journey is unique, thanks to procedurally generated encounters that keep the gameplay fresh. Your base is the Pirate Cave HUB, where you upgrade your ship and train crew members before heading out.  

In Rogue Waters, you’ll recruit a crew from six unique classes, each with special abilities that contribute to naval and melee combat. From battling factions at sea to confronting Captain Blackbone, every run is filled with dangerous thrilling encounters.

Master the seas 

Combat in Rogue Waters is more strategic than in a typical turn-based RPG. You engage enemies in naval battles, where cannons allow you to target specific areas of enemy ships, weakening them before the boarding phase. When boarding, the combat switches to melee style, with hand-to-hand fighting and environmental traps to aid your victory. Adding to the game’s appeal is the ability to summon legendary sea creatures. 

One of these sea creatures is the Kraken, which brings mythological excitement into the mix. The rogue-lite element resets your equipment after each run, while permanent upgrades let you strengthen both your crew and ship over time. Exploring the seas, managing your crew, and using resources wisely keep players engaged, while the overarching story of vengeance and prophecy gives depth to each encounter.  

The world feels alive as it shifts with every run, so even if you return to familiar waters, the dangers and treasures are always different. The game balances its action and strategy, making it a satisfying experience for both rogue-lite fans and pirate enthusiasts alike. However, there is a steep learning curve for new players, it requires frequent resource management, and the combat can feel repetitive.
