Riverside.fm is a popular video and podcast recording platform. The developers boast that the app is used by over 70,000 podcasters, media companies, and content creators. The app allows a user to easily record new content using their mobile device, including HD video and the ability to save files to the cloud.

While many podcast apps, such as Primetime Podcast Receiver, are concerned with receiving and playing podcasts, Riverside.fm is more concerned with the creation of podcasts in the first place. As such, it can be compared more closely with applications like Audacity.

High-quality recordings

Riverside.fm creates local recordings for each of the participants in a podcast, meaning that the quality of each recording is not affected by their internet connection. As long the connection is good enough to communicate, the final result will be high-quality video and/or audio. The app can support up to 8 participants on a podcast.

Cloud saving and other features

All files created by Riverside.fm are automatically uploaded to the cloud, providing convenient backup and a way of ensuring that the local recordings of each participant are accessible. In addition to local recordings for each participant, there are also individual recordings for both video and audio, making it easier to edit around things like excessive background noise.

A convenient tool for remote podcasting

For podcasters who regularly make recordings with remote participants, Riverside.fm is a convenient tool for getting those recordings while maintaining a high-level quality. The individual recordings and cloud save also make the chances of losing recordings much lower, reducing the risk of a lost podcast. It should be noted that the editing functionality of the app is limited, however.
