Phantom Blade Zero is a thrilling action game that is described as a kung-fu punk experience with fast-paced combat and RPG elements. Although it also features influences from the Soulslike subgenre, it’s crucial to note that this title is not a Soulslike game.

Enter a dark world

Phantom Blade Zero allows players to dive into the heart-pumping combat, which combines hectic, rewarding, and exhilarating action. While it draws inspiration from the Soulslike genre’s multi-layered maps and intricate paths in a semi-open world, the game's focus on accessible yet challenging gameplay makes it unique.

Most notably the game offers adjustable difficulty options and does not feature respawning mobs after death or interaction with checkpoints. Unfortunately, there are still some issues with the framerates and some occasional crashes, but seeing as it is still in its early development stages, there’s enough time to polish these issues.

Still has room for improvement

Phantom Blade Zero is shaping up to be a standout title with its distinct approach to the action RPG sphere. The game’s demo has shown promising mechanics and engaging combat that would present a rewarding experience rather than a frustrating, unnecessarily challenging game as one would originally expect.
