Past Cure offers melee combo fighting, supernatural powers, gun fighting, and stealth kills. It is a game built for fans of survival horror and fans of the Hitman series. The focus of the game is the narrative and not the action.

Try to survive the criminal underworld

The psychological thriller idea that blurs the lines between dreams and reality has been woefully overdone in the game industry, so hardcore fans of survival horror will see nothing they haven't seen before. The use of supernatural powers within the game helps to remove it slightly from being a Hitman clone. You may use stealth, fighting, or guns just like with Hitman, but you may also use supernatural powers to distract or remove your enemy. Like all good survival horror and stealth games, the game focuses very heavily on the story. There is very little running around looking for side quests because your path is clearly laid out for you. The story is not very original once the arc is complete, but the details and the interactions will keep your attention and will reward you for your efforts.

The game could have done as well without puzzles

Past Cure has puzzles in it, which is common in survival horror games, but it was an unnecessary addition to the game. Difficult puzzles sometimes slow your process, which takes the edge of the story if you play every few days. Stealth take-downs are fun, and the astral projection feature is not as useless as it is in other games. Still, it is the story-driven cinematic experience that makes the game worth playing.
