PAPERHEAD EP.0 is an action game. It is an unusual blend of shooter mechanics, horror, and adventure set in a disturbingly cute cardboard world. You awaken as the protagonist, a character surrounded by eerie yet adorable cardboard landscapes.  

PAPERHEAD EP.0 starts in a prison cell, and a mysterious voice beckons you through bloodstained, rune-inscribed hallways, driving you to investigate the world’s strange, unsettling atmosphere. You’ll rely on a trusty shotgun to survive, with fast-paced movement and brutal combat that require quick reflexes and precision. However, this isn’t your typical shooter.  

Draw, destroy, and discover 

In Paperhead EP.0, your pencil is more than just a weapon — it allows you to interact with the environment. You can sketch bombs, draw doors, or scribble on walls, enhancing the interactive experience. The game’s standout feature is its blend of cute aesthetics and horror elements. The world’s design, all in cardboard, juxtaposes whimsical visuals with grotesque moments, like bleeding paper walls, making for an unusual yet fascinating horror style.  

In the game, the soundtrack, a high-energy industrial beat, keeps the pace intense and the atmosphere tense, complementing the action beautifully. Each encounter is swift, from tossing enemies to explosive barrels or kicking them out of your way. The game keeps you on edge as you explore and battle through each level, driven by the mystery of why cardboard would bleed. 

The industrial soundtrack keeps the pace and tension high, perfectly complementing the atmosphere. However, there is a limited replay value due to short gameplay, there is a lack of variety in combat mechanics and weapons, and the game is not ideal for those who prefer traditional horror over quirky styles. There is also no real narrative depth or character development. The combat can feel repetitive after the initial playthrough as well.
