No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle is a sequel to the popular No More Heroes action game. Like that game, it is an action comedy in which the player takes on the role of an assassin in a modern urban setting. The urban setting and comedic tone set this game apart from other assassin games, such as Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag.

The player's character is a leather jacket-wearing, katana-wielding assassin with stylish hair and a quick wit. Though the narrative seems to have completely forgotten some plot points from the previous game, it still offers an interesting and engaging storyline to play through.

Become the top assassin… again

In No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle, the player takes control of Travis Touchdown once more — the protagonist from the first game. After fighting his way to the top of the Assassin's Association in the first game, Travis has taken his foot off the gas and found himself back down in the 51st ranking position.

More of the same

Fans of the original game will find this game familiar, as it is essentially more of the same with a new story. Besides completing various side jobs, purchasing new merch, and generally leveling up their character, the player must carry out assassinations. There are three playable characters this time. The game also includes the ability to duel-wield katanas.

A good game for fans of the series

No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle will undoubtedly be a good game for fans of the first No More Heroes since it's essentially an incremental update of that game. That is not to say that new players will not enjoy it, and there is no requirement for someone to have played the first game to enjoy this one.
