Nioh 2 – The Complete Edition is an action RPG game set in medieval Japan, where the player will take on hordes of enemies. The game is classed as a masocore game, meaning it is extremely difficult by design and intended only for the most skilled and patient gamers.

The masocore nature of the game can be found in the popular Dark Souls Remastered game and the other games in that franchise. While this game contains fantastical elements, it is set in a real-world time and place — during the Sengoku period when much of Japan was at war.

Not for the faint-hearted

Being a masocore sub-genre game, Nioh 2 – The Complete Edition is sadistically difficult and makes little attempt to appeal to more casual players. However, the game can be tackled as a multiplayer cooperative challenge to share the difficulty. The player will tackle many enemies, both hordes of them and more focused boss fights against powerful monsters.

Impressive visuals

Nioh 2 – The Complete Edition boasts some high-quality graphics, from the environments to the monsters and the visual effects used. It also comes with support for things like ultra-wide 4K monitors, 120 FPS, and HDR, further adding to the potential visual quality. Of course, a player would need the appropriate hardware to take advantage of these modes.

A challenging game with lauded combat

It has already been mentioned, but Nioh 2 – The Complete Edition is not for casual gamers, as it will need a lot of skill and patience to succeed. For those who do decide to take Nioh 2 on, many existing players have praised the combat mechanics and controls as being a particular highlight.
