Night of the Dead is a premium action game for PC from developer Jackto Studios. It's a zombie survival horror game wherein players find themselves stuck in an undisclosed location. They must fend off attacks from the undead while looking for a way to contact other survivors on the outside.

Similar to Days Gone or Dying Light 2 Stay Human, Night of the Dead boasts a large open map for players to explore and navigate as they scavenge for resources during the day to survive and craft necessary tools and materials for building their base defenses at night.

Uncover the truth

In Night of the Dead, you play as Lucy, who awakens during a human experiment conducted in a mysterious facility overrun by zombies. It's located in an undisclosed island but there are means of escaping available. You will have to explore the open-world environment to find clues about how to get out—while taking care of your hunger and thirst and keeping the zombies at bay.

Unlike other survival horror games, hordes of enemies will come for you every night, and you must defend yourself. The game features a base-building mechanic and tower defense gameplay that will occur every night. You must set up platforms, obstacles, and traps to push the zombies back as you wait for sunrise. Thus, daytime is also meant for gathering resources while searching for clues to explain your situation.

You'll hunt and farm for food, collect materials for crafting, and build and upgrade your shelter. The survival gameplay isn’t really harsh so you will actually be focusing more on discovering all of the quest items that you’ll need to leave the island. As a side note, do be aware that the game is still in Early Access and is still being actively developed.

Survive and get out alive

All in all, Night of the Dead seems like another cookie-cutter zombie but it has surprising twists and turns with its gameplay. While resource-gathering can feel limited and the crafting can feel a bit of a hassle at times, the fact that you also need to strategize how your base will function for the nightly waves of zombies makes for a engaging and tactical survival horror experience.
