Much like Kingdom: Two Crowns or Ratopia, Microcivilization employs a distinct side-scrolling perspective paired with charming pixel graphics. It boasts non-linear progression that allows players to approach the gameplay in all kinds of ways. It also offers multiple branching paths they can take that lead to various moments in history.

Start small

True to its name, Microcivilization has you start a nation with your tiny human population and build one structure at a time, slowly expanding your territory. Tap into your Workshop to acquire skills—passive and active—that can help in your day-to-day tasks like building and resource management. Invest in your Technology Tree to unlock upgrades for your buildings and military units to counter threats.

Speaking of threats, as is with any developing nation, crises are inevitable, and in this game, they come in the form of natural disasters, social unrest, political instability, and even all-out invasion. Overcoming one grants you heroes who boost your powers or grant special perks and abilities. You can even merge and combine them to create unique and interesting results.

Then, there's the Ascension Tree, a collection of challenges divided into different periods and eras in history, each one giving a glimpse into the past. One thing to note before you proceed, this game is still in Early Access. It's still in active development, so expect various bugs to pop up here and there, as well as more content to come in future updates.

Casual yet strategic

All in all, Microcivilization combines the best of both worlds with its casual clicker-style gameplay and more strategic aspects for those who want to dive deeper into its mechanics.
