Beam ‘em up action roguelike game
Mexican Ninja is a premium action game for PC developed by Madbricks and is a 2.5D beat ‘em up adventure featuring a unique theme that sees Japanese martial arts blend with Mexican culture. Taking place in an alternate future, players take on the role of a katana-wielding, sombrero-wearing warrior as they face hordes of enemies to defeat the ruling crime syndicates.
Combining the fast-paced action of a game like Streets of Rage 4 with the RPG-like system and roguelike elements of Hades II, Mexican Ninja serves up a thrilling non-stop adventure from start to finish. It is slated for release sometime in Q1 2026.
Pinche Ninja
Mexican Ninja takes place in an alternate future where Japan and Mexico collide to form the city of Nuevo Tokyo, adopting a feudal system ruled over by criminal syndicates known as the Narkuzas. Rebels on the outskirts of the city have risen up to fight back against the five ruling houses, and this is where you come in, as a lone warrior, taking on the impossibly dangerous mission at hand.
Take on groups of Narcos and Yakuza enemies in the stylized streets of Nuevo Tokyo as a walking juxtaposition of clashing cultures. Combat is a classic beat ‘em up fare as you slash through enemies, building up your combo counter. However, you will also need to play it smart with quick dashes and well-timed parries, in addition to your diverse ninja skill set and support items you’ll use throughout.
You can also appease Mexican-Japanese spirits, who can grant you special powers that manifest in unique ways during your runs. There’s even a surprise skill tree to unlock with a distinct Mexican flair called Way of the Donkey. You’ll also unlock costumes to help reflect your personal style. Having said all that, it’s going to be a long wait before Mexican Ninja’s expected release date.
Clashing of cultures
In a word, the fact that this game is about a Mexican Ninja is enough of a reason for you to check it out. No other game has tried to combine two rather opposing cultures, and it pays homage to both in a stylish, action-filled experience. If you’re a fan of action roguelikes and beat ‘em ups, keep this one on your radar and check it out when it releases.
