Slash your way through a paper craft world

Majogami is an action and platformer game developed by Inti Creates for PC and consoles. The main plot revolves around Shiroha, a young woman who awakens in a strange world that is heavily designed around Japanese-style papercraft, specifically origami. She sets out on a quest to slowly regain her memories.

Majogami offers a fluid, high-intensity combat, where the protagonist wields a powerful katana called the “Kamikiri” to hack and slash their way through a hostile realm filled with deadly enemies and bosses. It also has a long and dramatic story with fully voice-acted characters, spanning over eight hours of dialogue.

Carve a path through origami battlegrounds

In Majogami, you’ll step into the shoes of Shiroha, a brave woman with amnesia. She is joined by her father, Shiori, who has mysteriously been turned into paper. Together, they embark into a twisted world controlled by Craft Witches who deploy their horrific minions to stop the duo. As Shiroha defeats the inhabitants of the realm, she slowly regains her memories, revealing the backstory between her and her father.

Shiroha is equipped with her special ability, Setsuna, and has the power to transform into seven different fighting forms. There are also special scrolls she can obtain to unlock new abilities and techniques to wreak havoc against those who oppose her. The game features over 13 bosses, each with its own unique powers. Combat requires a deep understanding of Shiroha’s abilities to pull off powerful combos against her foes.

With more than 35 stages available and fully voice-acted characters, the story is enticing and dramatic enough to keep audiences on the edge of their seats. The world is also beautifully handcrafted and visually appealing, although there’s not much room for exploration, since the game is focused on combat. For those who are a bit competitive, they can take on 30 challenge missions to mark their names on online leaderboards.

Fluid, high-momentum gameplay

Overall, Majogami is a solid approach to modern-day platformer games. It’s the right blend between action and side-scrolling genres, and the gameplay formula is engaging enough to keep players hooked. The storytelling is top-notch and flows well, making you crave more. It’s highly recommended for those who love button-mashing combat, but it will disappoint those who prefer a slower approach.
