The game utilizes the interactive and immersive characteristics of video games to help players understand how to prepare these dishes. Be warned, though. The controls are not that smooth, and it tends to be repetitive.

The story of Lutong Bahay: Lola's Home Cooking follows Maricela, a girl tasked to inherit her grandmother's carinderia (eatery). However, to do so, she must travel across the Philippines to learn how to cook the iconic Filipino dishes. Not only that, but she needs to talk to the locals and learn the history and culture behind the dishes. The game introduces different food from different provinces, and players will need to cook them from scratch. 

As noted, the game is very interactive and immersive. There will be at least three stages in every dish, which encompasses the preparation, the actual cooking, and the serving. Don’t worry, though. There will be instructions displayed at the upper-left corner of the screen. The controls, meanwhile, mostly use mouse-clicks. However, there will be instances where you will use the WASD keys.

Lutong Bahay: Lola's Home Cooking is an informative game as it instills a deeper appreciation for the rich and diverse culinary traditions of the Philippines. Aside from the dishes, it also showcases the origin of the featured dishes. However, while it is fun and educational, playing it is a tad bit hard. The controls are not that smooth, and after some time, it tends to become boring. More, there is no save option and an exit button available.
