Loch Ness is a paid action game that puts you in the center of a long-running mystery. In this four-player cooperative experience, you join a team of scientists setting out once and for all if the Loch Ness monster actually exists. Navigate the lake, lay down your bait, and hope to draw the Lovecraftian horror that awaits beneath.

The graphics in Loch Ness are realistic and immersive, and the game gets technical and strategic. Unfortunately, the game has a tendency toward randomly freezing and crashing. Playing this game feels like a cross between Pacify and Call of Cthulhu.

Prove Nessie exists

The Loch Ness monster, also called Nessie, is a mythical creature from Scottish folklore said to live in the lake of the same name. Large and long-necked, it has been one of the most popular folklore creatures, despite being proven as a hoax by the scientific community. In the game, however, it definitely exists. It’s not as benevolent in this iteration, though, being some sort of an ancient horror.

As mentioned, the visuals are enough to take you in. The game lets you customize your character and play alone, with friends, or with random people on its public servers. Unfortunately, the last option isn’t viable because of its small player base, making it hard to find or join games. Also, the game offers different ways of achieving your objectives based on a point system.

The game, fun and challenging as it is, is still plagued by bugs that can adversely affect your gameplay experience. One common issue is that the game tends to freeze or crash randomly. The controls also feel unresponsive from time to time. Still, as an indie title, it works exceptionally well. You can even experience the full difficulty of summoning the titular monster.

A good hunting game with friends

Partly because of its limited public player base, Loch Ness is a fun game best played with friends. It lets you customize your in-game avatar and play the game however you see fit. You can either pick up small pieces of evidence or summon the monster from the lake. Either way, there’s a lot of fun and challenge. It has bugs, but it’s still fun and playable.
