Battles in “Like a King” take place in real-time and you can choose from a variety of difficulty settings. The objective of the game is to destroy the enemy’s base, which consists of a castle and barracks. As you progress through the game, you will encounter other players. The goal of each battle is to defeat your rival. To do so, you will need to build a strong army by recruiting soldiers and growing their levels. Soldiers can be upgraded with different units like archers, ballista's, and more.

As you play, you will gain experience points which you can use to upgrade your soldiers. If you manage to upgrade your soldiers to a certain level, you will receive a medal of that level. These medals can be used to unlock more units.
