Lanterns Come to Life is an Augmented Reality app that brings to life the Legends of the Silk Road Come to Light exhibit at the Canadian National Exhibition. This unique installation, in partnership with Shadow Factory Limited and DDM, integrates technology and traditional Chinese lantern art to create an immersive experience for audiences. The exhibit features 15 animated lanterns that reveal compelling tales from the ancient Silk Road when scanned with the app.

Users can engage with familiar stories from childhood, such as Jack climbing a magic beanstalk, Aladdin meeting a genie who grants three wishes, and exotic and mythical animal encounters. As users move towards the next lantern, new markers appear to guide them, and they capture magical moments such as maps unfolding and a genie emerging from the lamp.

The Lanterns Come to Life! app is optimized for any smart device and can be downloaded before entering the exhibit.
