Kitsune Tails is a fantasy action platformer game developed by Kitsune games that lets you play as a young female kitsune. As one of the goddess Inari's fox-eared and bushy-tailed messengers, you must embark on a journey to deliver a message — and eventually find yourself on an adventure full of fun. 

Similar to Super Mario, Kitsune Tails allows the player to run and jump through paths, enemies, obstacles and other platforms as they progress through the game — as well as unlock mysterious powers. This game is available on PC and doesn’t require high device specifications to run.

Cute and fluffy 

Kitsune Tails is set in a land inspired by Japanese mythology — but here, you can use cute outfits to power up or stomp around by stealing a giant boot from enemies. Story-wise, it has LGBTQ+ themes as the players will experience both a romantic encounter with a kindly sorceress who comes to your aid in a time of need, and the complicated relationship with your former mentor-turned-antagonist. 

The gameplay consists of running, jumping, and dashing across a vibrant landscape. Here, you must explore five elemental worlds and various haunted houses — each of which boasts a lot of unique enemies and bosses that have varying difficulty levels. Your combat skills simply consist of stomping on enemy Pangos to make them curl into a ball, pick them up, and kick them around if you need to.  

The game boasts a roster of unique characters, each with their own unique backstory, charming characteristics, and intrigue. The best part about this platformer is that it gives the players the option to turn on a CRT Filter for nostalgic purposes, which is the classic graphics look for old video games. Despite all of this, the whole gameplay section is relatively short.

A charming platformer game 

Kitsune tails is a wonderful game inspired by Japanese mythology and classic platformer games, combining the best of both worlds and resulting in the creation of a game that is both cute and unique. Walking through different levels while uncovering the story's plot is quite thrilling, and although it has its share of issues, it is nonetheless worth giving a try.
