Kirby Air Riders reimagines the wacky, float-and-race concept of previous games with a fresh mix of speed, aerial machines, and chaotic combat. Developed by BANDAI NAMCO, this arcade racer revolves around “machines” and a cast of 21 “Riders,” each capable of using the franchise’s signature Copy Abilities, plus a unique “Special” move which adds to the chaotic racing. 

A chaotic, colorful racer 

Kirby Air Riders offers multiple modes with classic racetracks, featuring a “Top-Down” view mode, the chaotic City Trial, and a story-driven “Road Trip” campaign mode that gives more structure than past Kirby racers. Beyond traditional races, the game embraces hybrid-mode chaos. There’s a sprawling “City Trial” mode where up to 16 players roam a floating city, collect power-ups, and battle. 

Controls are deceptively simple but demand practice as your machine moves automatically, and you mainly steer, brake, drift, boost or deploy specials. Winning often depends not just on speed, but smart use of boost/refuel mechanics, well-timed attacks, and awareness of the track and opponents. However, the content feels modest over other kart racers. Moreover, the chaotic crowded matches can be overwhelming.

While the controls are simple yet precise, allowing for strategic play, the game’s modest content and crowded races may overwhelm some players.
