Retro action-adventure horror game
Kingdom of Night is a premium role-playing game for PC by Black Seven Studios. It's an action RPG adventure featuring horror elements and takes inspiration from the 80s for its design and themes. In it, players are thrust into a world that is being overrun by demonic creatures that have been summoned by a dark cult ritual.
Similar to the developer's other releases like CrossCode and Lost Ruins, Kingdome of Night takes cues from classic RPGs with its retro graphics, RPG mechanics, and open-world exploration. It also supports multiplayer gameplay via local co-op as players team up to vanquish demonic forces.
One fateful night
Kingdom of Night takes place in the year 198X, in the town of Miami, Arizona. A satanic cult performs a ritual and unwittingly summons the ancient demonic evil, Baphomet, plunging this small county into darkness. You play as John who awakens to the chaos and the kidnapping of your neighbor and decides to stand and fight against the rampaging demons and rescue your abducted friend.
You can play solo or two-player local co-op, and there are three character classes and nine subclasses available. No matter what you choose, you'll have an extensive skill tree that splits into three branches, allowing you to create unique builds. Journey across town as you battle enemies, interact with various characters, and face off against Demon Generals as you make your way to Baphomet's formidable fortress called Leviathan.
You will also acquire various gear and weapons through enemy drops, loot tables, hidden treasures, and quest rewards. They provide much-needed stat boosts and bonuses to help make battling demons a bit easier. Now, as of this writing, Kingdom of Night is not available yet and there is no specific release date either. You will have to wait for more news and updates.
Throwback to the 80s
Overall, Kingdom of Night is shaping up to be a compelling retro action RPG and throwback to the 80s driven by nostalgia. The graphics are charming and the combat is diverse thanks to various classes and skill trees. Hopefully, more news and announcements will come soon. All the same, keep this on your radar and watch out for its release.
