Kerbal Space Program
Kerbal Space Program: Playful, Hands‑On Rocket Engineering for Tinkerers
Flying to space again
Kerbal Space Program 2 is a space simulation by Star Theory Games. The game is the direct sequel of the Kerbal Space Program, wherein a new generation of astronauts will travel to space. The Kerbals have moved out of the moon and they are planning for interstellar travel. Fans of the original series can expect a comedic simulation of a space program with new features.
Beyond its improved graphics and gameplay physics, Kerbal Space Program 2 has best improved in terms of accessibility. The onboarding progression makes it better for new players to get into the game and get hooked.
Kerbal Space Program 2 retains the essence of its 2011 predecessor. The main premise is still to build a spacecraft capable of surviving space and reaching far regions of the galaxy. You still guide the green humanoid Kerbals, with new challenges focused on a thriving space colony far away from home. You still have to gather resources to keep your Kerbal astronauts alive.
Of course, the main improvement is in the graphics. Designed for modern devices, this sequel boasts smoother textures rendered in high resolution. While it retains the cartoonish design choices that made it stand out, there’s now a lot more realism, especially in the vastness of space and the sci-fi stuff you work with within the game. Still, its realistic physics is both immersive and presents most of the gameplay challenge.
Whereas the original game only focuses on conquering your native planet, the sequel introduces interstellar travel. You can now travel to a neighboring star named Debdeb. Another promising addition is a multiplayer mode. Whether you work together or stand in each other’s way. Lastly, the highlight of this game is that it is a lot easier to learn than the original, making it more welcoming to new players.
Overall, Kerbal Space Program 2 manages to build on the successes of the original while also improving the parts that made other players turn away. You have improved graphics and in-game physics, combined with a wealth of new features—now reaching a larger scale with space colonies and interstellar travel. More importantly, it’s now a lot easier to get into. Even if you’re new to this, you can enjoy it right away.
