Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel thrust players into the chaos of Ragnarok, where they must battle through relentless waves of Jotunns or giants and undead creatures unleashed by Hel, the goddess of the underworld. In this game, you can choose one of the cursed heroes and strive to pass the gods' trials by fighting your way out of the Norse underworld, Helheim. 

In these intense battles against relentless waves of enemies, your goal is to summon the final boss to complete the gods' trial and secure greater rewards. This requires more than just surviving individual encounters; instead, you must complete a series of missions. Additionally, you can select from a range of diverse characters, each with unique skills, abilities, and weapons. 

Featuring fast-paced combat, it lets you wield a diverse array of weapons, from swords and axes to magic-infused abilities. Its skill tree provides a comprehensive customization system, allowing players to shape their hero according to their preferred playstyle—be it brute strength, agility, or magic. However, the combat and mission structures can become repetitive as players encounter similar waves of enemies, which can lead to a monotonous experience after prolonged play.

In early access, Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel introduces four distinct heroes, each with unique abilities. The Flame Sister is a fast and agile melee fighter who uses fire-infused daggers for swift strikes. Her offensive strength is impressive, but she lacks the defense to withstand prolonged battles. On the other hand, the Seeress wields dark magic and mystical foresight, using sorcery both defensively and offensively.

The Revenant is a ranged hero, empowered by the spirit of an ancient wolf. His archery skills make him a deadly threat from a distance, allowing players to keep enemies at bay. Meanwhile, the Berserker is a classic melee powerhouse, charging headfirst into battle with brutal axe strikes. His abilities focus on close-range, chaotic combat, making him ideal for players who enjoy a more aggressive playstyle.

The early access version also lets players explore two distinct realms, each offering unique challenges. Muspelheim, home of the Fire Giants, is a fiery realm where the landscape is dominated by intense heat and firestorms. In stark contrast, Niflheim is a frozen wasteland of darkness and cold. The game also features four powerful Norse gods—Thor, Freya, Loki, and Odin—each influencing gameplay with unique challenges that affect your journey through the realms.
