As mentioned, it works as an enhanced remaster more than simply visually enhancing its predecessor. It adds new playable characters totaling 50 from all of JoJo's arcs. You can even experience battles from each story. Moreover, you can see characters from different universes interact with one another.

The new JoJo game also made a few tweaks to the gameplay, including hit stops and jump dashes. It even has flash cancels that allow you to cancel your current combo quickly. With these, the game has more competitive depth. Of course, the standard attacks, combo, block, and dodge of fighting games remain. However, the characters can summon their stand and get a second fighter to attack and zone with.

However, fans of the first fighting game will notice that All-Star-Battle R did not get a remake-level visual overhaul. However, as the anime has an extremely distinct art style and features overly muscular characters, the transition from anime to the 3D fighting game is perfect. Even better, the voice-overs also got an update matching the voice-acting fans have come to love from the anime.
