Arx Fatalis
Magical and entrancing first-person role-playing game
Blowing Up The Threats
Ion Fury is a first-person shooter developed by VoidPoint, LLC. and published by 3D Realms. The game features stylized action combat reminiscent of older 3D Realms games. Players can enjoy a hardcore shooter game mechanics, as well as a classic pixel art style.
Ion Fury takes place in a futuristic world where cybernetics is prevalent. Global Defense Force bomb specialist Shelly “Bombshell” Harrison is assigned to end the threat in Neo DC as transhumanist terrorist Dr. Jadus Heskel raises an army of cybernetic cult to overtake the city. The goal is simple: destroy all threats. Shelly changes her tactics from defusing bombs to causing explosions. The game highlights the classic gameplay of all-out, run-and-gun action. The controls allow players to climb, duck, jump, and swim. It has 7 massive levels, with many paths and secret areas. Players can expect relentless hordes of inhuman enemies everywhere and they have to deal with the classic shooter trope of no health regeneration and covers. This will test their patience, cunning, and tenacity. Players have a large array of arsenals with different firing modes. Some of Shelly's signature firearms are the tri-barreled revolver Loverboy, electric truncheon, crossbow, machine guns, minigun, grenade launcher, and the explosive Bowling Bomb.
The game is powered by 3D Realms' Build Engine. Some of the classic 3D Realms games built from the Build Engine are Blood, Duke Nukem 3D, and Shadow Warrior. The engine creates pseudo-3D environments in 2D and it is widely acclaimed due to its customization features and seamless processing of game scripts. There are no procedural generated contents for a smoother level transition. Games made from Build Engine still runs great despite the dated graphics. The FastTracker 2 audio format gives a pumping soundtrack to match the action. 3D Realms improves the Build Engine by adding modern mechanics and visuals. The game still utilizes retro-style but detailed pixel art. It has more physics and interactivity compared to older 3D Realm games and players can perform precise headshots against enemies. The other modernized systems are autosave, controller support, locational damage, and widescreen option. Fans can also make their custom stages with the integrated Level Editor.
Ion Fury brings back the retro run-and-gun experience to modern platforms. It showcases the capabilities of the Build Engine in modern platforms. Fans of classic FPS can enjoy intense action, mindless rampage and over-the-top explosions. More experienced players can discover new routes and secrets.
