Inventioneers takes place in a world where tiny builders construct all manner of weird and wonderful buildings and machines. The player's job is to solve puzzles based on the various zany contraptions, which include gears, conveyer belts, helium balloons, weights, pipes, funnels, cannons and more. The puzzles have whimsical aims such as knocking a penguin into a pool or lighting a fire so that a crocodile can roast a marshmallow, but the game uses principles from real-world physics which will help children to understand and memorise this concepts.

As well as solving puzzles based around existing contraptions, players are able to design their own structures just to experiment with the various different types of object on offer.
