Helgen Reborn is a free mod for the popular open-world Skyrim fantasy RPG. The mod adds a new detailed quest for Skyrim players to complete. In addition, it provides several new locations to explore and a host of new NPCs. In total, the mod delivers several hours of new playable content.

The fan-made mod was developed using modding software, like the Nexus mod Creation Kit. Unfortunately, since official Skyrim game-makers did not develop this mod, no official support is available. There are also a few odd quirks that you need to navigate to use this mod properly.

A complete overhaul for Helgen

The town of Helgen was destroyed at a very early stage in the game. Helgen Reborn adds new quests that enable players to rebuild Helgen into a fully functional town, complete with working amenities and purchasable homes.

New changes for Helgen NPCs

The mod adds a considerable amount of miscellaneous behaviors and new dialogue for NPCs. There's even an option to marry Cienna, one of Skyrim's non-playable characters. Some quests also allow you to recruit guards and move specific NPCs to different regions.

More locations and playing hours

Besides the town of Helgen, the mod adds several new custom dungeons and multiple faction options for players to enjoy. In total, the mod brings around 4-6 hours of additional Skyrim gameplay.

Load it carefully

The mod involves rebuilding a town that was previously destroyed during the game's opening sequence. As a result, the mod must be reloaded after playing through the opening quest to avoid breaking the game. However, it is compatible with another mod that allows you to skip the opening sequence known as Alternative Start.
