The Home Quarantine System (Házi Karantén Rendszer – HKR in Hungary) is a smartphone application designed to aid authorities in monitoring individuals adhering to home quarantine regulations and tracking their health status through periodic medical check-ins. Officially home-quarantined individuals utilize the app voluntarily, registering and conducting remote check-ins via their smartphones. These check-ins involve taking a selfie at random intervals between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM to ensure compliance with quarantine rules.

The application operates by sending remote monitoring requests to users via email and SMS at varying times during the day. Users are prompted to open the app within 10 minutes of receiving a request, where the system captures images for identity verification and checks the location against the registered address. Additionally, users are required to complete medical check questionnaires twice daily within the app.
