Gang Beasts takes place in fictional Beef City where you roam the streets of the Meatropolis district. You'll take control of jiggly anthropomorphic characters as you look to duke it out with your fellow gelatinous blobs in a free-for-all brawl fest. Your main objective is to beat each other silly until one of you gets knocked off. Punch, kick, headbutt, and grab your way to victory—whatever it takes.

You can customize your character with different colors and a variety of costumes before jumping into a fight. It also features multiple stages that all bring something unique to the match. Some will take place in a subway, while others will be at an incineration facility or even atop a blimp. You can literally choose anywhere, and this is great for keeping gameplay fresh.

Now, the game's greatest source of laughs also ends up being its most glaring weakness. As mentioned, it utilizes physics-based mechanics, and the way characters behave and react to getting attacked or stumbling is just hilarious. However, it has a negative effect on the controls, which often become finicky and imprecise. This also extends to the combat aspect, such as landing a hit or grabbing an opponent.
