From the tiniest piece of plastic to the largest chunk of wood, you’ll be amazed at just how much amazing stuff you can make from them. Flotsam offers a refreshing take on a post-apocalyptic world, and building a city literally from floating trash is really fun.

Reuse and recycle

City-building in Flotsam is interesting because you will have to reuse and recycle whatever stuff the ocean brings to your area. However, this is not the only challenge you will be facing here in this game. The Earth is still not a friendly place to be in, and there will always be outside elements that will try to destroy what you just created. 

You can set sail across a flooded world and explore the remains of an old civilization, from soaked ruins to forgotten islands scattered across the horizon. As you drift from place to place, you’ll rescue stranded survivors and befriend helpful animals who can join your floating community. Along the way, you’ll uncover old technologies that help improve and expand your town.

This game is also about survival. You’ll need to provide your people, known as Drifters, with supplies, food, and freshwater. Each drifter has their own stories, skills, and personality that can help your floating community. By finding unique specialists—like the Birdkeeper, Chemist, or Electrician—you unlock new buildings, technologies, and story quests that help your town grow in unexpected ways. However, the scavenging and travel cycles can become occasionally repetitive.
