Floatlands is a low-poly survival-exploration first-person shooter (FPS) game designed for Windows, currently in early development. Players assume the role of a robot protagonist navigating procedurally generated worlds that feature diverse biomes such as jungles, deserts, seas, and snowy landscapes. Each game session offers a unique experience due to the random generation of islands and natural elements, ensuring no two explorations are alike. As of now, the game is singleplayer with plans for multiplayer functionality in the future.

The game incorporates various gameplay elements, including questing and resource gathering. Players can engage in randomly generated quests that involve defending, collecting, or exploring, adding unpredictability to the gameplay. Resource gathering is crucial, with players collecting materials like scrap metal, wood, and wool to build and upgrade their bases.
