The first ever HD-2D title in the FINAL FANTASY franchise
FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE is a role-playing game developed by SQUARE ENIX for consoles and PC. This standalone title takes place during the first story arc of the mobile game FINAL FANTASY BRAVE EXVIUS. It extensively rebuilds this story arc by improving graphics, reworking gameplay, expanding presentation, and adding new features.
Combining retro-inspired pixel art and modern visual effects, FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE offers a classic feel that every FINAL FANTASY fan can feel nostalgic about, but with modern elements that can also cater to newer fans. It is also the first HD-2D title in the entire FINAL FANTASY franchise.
Protect the remaining Crystals
Set in the Kingdom of Grandshelt, where people live under the protection of magical crystals, FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE follows the story of Rain, a young knight and commander of the kingdom's airship squadron, and his childhood friend, deputy commander Lasswell, who embark on a journey with a mysterious girl named Fina to pursue Veritas of the Dark, an armored man who had destroyed the Earth Crystal and defeated them previously, and to protect the Crystals that remain.
Including Rain, Laswell, and Fina, the game has eight playable party members. These include Lid, Nichol, Jake, Sakura, and Archwitch Fina, all of whom are bound to join you as you progress. Familiar characters like Cloud, Sephiroth, and Tidus are also returning, but associated with the Vision system rather than permanent members. This system lets you equip familiar heroes to your main characters for additional abilities and stat bonuses.
The game features a strategic turn-based combat system that lets you exploit enemy weaknesses and switch between party members. You can also travel across the world using an airship to visit new areas, discover dungeons, and encounter powerful enemies. However, some dungeons lack exploration depth, side quests can feel repetitive, and character build options are limited, which can make exploration, questing, and combat customization feel less engaging over time.
Extensively rebuilt FINAL FANTASY mobile title for consoles and desktop
FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE brings a familiar mobile RPG experience to consoles and PC through its HD-2D visuals, engaging story, and strategic combat. The expanded presentation, returning characters, and customizable party offer plenty for longtime fans to enjoy. While exploration and character development have some limitations, it remains an accessible standalone adventure for both longtime followers and newcomers to the franchise.
