Fact Blast is a free action video game wherein you have to go save the internet from being completely taken over by politics. Developed by t-rev, this 2D pixelated indie browser game is based on the content of the YouTube channel, Geeks + Gamers, and stars its host as the protagonist. Its offers simple platformer gameplay that’s complemented by its controller support. However, it only has one setting and you can’t save your progress.

Jeremy vs. NPCs

Geeks + Gamers—also known as “Geeks and Gamers”—is an online pop culture entertainment website that covers various multimedia content like video games, films, sports, and TV shows. It also does reviews for these media and has a YouTube channel for an online talk show, which often offers political satire regarding them. Its host, Jeremy Griggs, is well-known for being quite outspoken regarding censorship on the internet for fandom opinion.

This frankness is what you’ll be using when you play as him in Fact Blast. In this fan game, Jeremy finds out that the NPCs—another term for “social justice warriors” who just repeat opinions that they’ve heard from secondhand sources—are trying to take over the world via the internet. Thus, he has to go and defeat them using his “Facts” but there will be various obstacles hindering his progress at every turn.  

The controls are simple on the keyboard. The A and D keys are for movement and lets you go left and right. W lets you aim upwards by holding it. The S key is for ducking. K is for throwing projectiles and L is for jumping. Meanwhile, P opens the Pause menu. You have to defeat various enemies while trying to reach the end of each level to fight a mini-boss. There are 6 levels in total.

For all the fans

Overall, Fact Blast is a nice fan game for dedicated fans of the YouTube channel. While its graphics could use some polish, the game offers enough of a challenge for platformer lovers, as well. Its support for controllers really helps on that part. However, it would be nice to have settings for keybindings or volume—especially since this game often has audio issues. It could use a save feature, too.
