Frontline: WW2 - German Corps
Engaging Strategy Game Set in WWII
Statecraft and warfare across a restless Europe
Europe at War: WW2 Strategy, from FuGames, puts players in control of a nation beginning in 1936, with warfare sharing attention with diplomacy, research, industry, and resource management. Campaigns unfold across a broad European theater where other nations act independently and pursue their own geopolitical interests. The dense mix of military planning and national management makes the game best suited to players who enjoy deliberate grand strategy rather than quick battlefield action.
The campaign map contains more than 369 land and sea regions, giving territorial decisions considerable weight as borders shift and rival powers compete for space. Players can choose from 35 nations and pursue three different routes to victory: Military Conquest, Global Alliance, or Economic Supremacy. Territorial expansion, diplomacy, and economic planning all contribute to the wider campaign, so controlling more land does not automatically guarantee success.
Warfare involves infantry, air superiority, and naval forces, but positioning matters as much as raw expansion. Supply lines, ports, capitals, and encirclement mechanics punish armies that push too far without protecting their logistical routes. Autonomous AI adds another layer of pressure because rival nations can form alliances, declare wars, and pursue their own goals, creating fronts that change independently of the player’s immediate plans.
National development revolves around research, construction, and three core resources: Metal, Oil, and Cement. These materials support structures such as factories, shipyards, airfields, barracks, and fortifications, forcing players to balance military needs against longer-term economic growth. National Focus choices also influence political and strategic direction, adding another set of decisions to campaigns already filled with competing priorities and making the learning curve demanding for newcomers.
Spectator Mode lets players step away from direct control and watch AI-led nations negotiate, expand, and fight on their own. Global leaderboards and cross-platform cloud saves add features beyond the main campaign, while achievements, ranks, and profile customization provide extra progression goals. The large simulation also processes substantial amounts of information, so performance can slow on some devices when campaigns become especially busy.
Europe at War works best for players who enjoy studying interconnected systems and planning several moves ahead. Its 35 nations, sprawling map, diplomacy, logistics, research, and multiple victory routes give campaigns impressive strategic breadth, but that depth also creates a steep entry barrier. The simulation can place extra strain on some hardware as well. For players comfortable with methodical pacing and complex World War II strategy, the game offers plenty of room for experimentation across repeated campaigns.
