The Enhanced Lighting for ENB (ELE) - Special Edition is a dressed-down software package that combines many extra features that the mod developer rated as the best-suited add-ons for Skyrim. This mod is more of a utility tool, and there are also lighter versions of the ELE Suite available at ENBDev.

This mod doesn't affect game content like Skyrim Alternate Start or direct gameplay like Skyrim Lockpick Pro. This package is more of a Skyrim environmental mod that lets you update the map settings in the game. Also, this utility doesn't count towards the max plugin limit.

Does it make indoor areas brighter?

This mod makes the lighting more realistic. For example, the lighting is mellow and warm if you are in a house. Inside the caves, lighting becomes much bluer with darker shadows, while things can get pretty dark when deep inside a dungeonous area.

Is the ENBSeries required for this mod?

You do not need ENBSeries to make this mod utility work. This mod makes interior light adjustments easier to updates. You can also use it with other mods, such as Reshade, ENBSeries, and other third-party visual tools.

Will it reduce gaming performance?

On the contrary, it may improve performance within some interiors. For example, in some locations, the lighting and atmospheric conditions are simplified with modern code so that your processor handles it easier.

No concern for the plugin limit

The Skyrim game views this mod's changes as ESL. So that means it does not count this towards the max limit of 225 plugins. The limit seems high, but serious gamers often encounter this obstacle due to the wide range of Skyrim mods available.
