Edge of Sanity is a single-player action game with survival RPG elements, offering both suspense and horror. Here, players will need to maintain their base camp, explore remote locations, and face off with dangerous demons during their journey. This game boasts crisp cartoon-like graphics that can be compared to those found in Submachine Universe. Meanwhile, it’s inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft. Developed by Vixa Games, it’s available on a PC and gaming consoles. 

Edge of Sanity functions similarly to games like The Casting of Frank Stone, Demonologist, Sherlock Homes: The Awakened (2008), and Zoochosis—which provides a survival horror gameplay experience to players. 

Set in the Alaskan wilderness 

Edge of Sanity’s story involves a solitary explorer who is tasked with overcoming the harsh Alaskan wilderness. Thus, crafting and acquiring unique gear represent essential components of gameplay. Many of these same accessories will be required when encountering formidable monsters. The player will also need to discover the secrets of an artifact known as the "Thurul Stone." It is said that this stone plays a central role in local cults and also controls the demons that will be fought. Finding the stone will also clarify the fate of several scientists who went missing. 

Many of the tasks included in the game need to be performed daily. These include foraging for firewood, finding food, and maintaining a base camp. When combined with eradicating nightmarelike demons, players are certainly provided with a host of challenges. While the survival-based aspects of this game are similar to other platforms like Valnir Rok Survival RPG, its side-scrolling nature offers a more straightforward experience. The fact that it is set within the harsh Alaskan wilderness adds yet another level of intrigue that users should enjoy. 

One of the standout features is the sanity meter, which fluctuates based on the protagonist’s actions and decisions. As players encounter terrifying events, the meter drops, leading to hallucinations and altered gameplay mechanics. This innovative approach enhances immersion and reflects the internal struggle of the protagonist. Players must navigate their surroundings carefully, balancing the need to confront fears while managing the sanity meter to avoid spiraling into madness. However, its gameplay can feel repetitive as it focuses heavily on resource gathering.

Additionally, various bugs have been addressed to enhance game stability and performance, including a significant fix for issues concerning spark plugs, which are essential for specific in-game mechanics for players.
