Deceit is a free-to-play action game developed by Baseline. This first-player shooter game will test your instincts to determine who you can and cannot trust. You’ll find yourself trapped in an unknown area with five other players who have randomly been assigned one of two roles: an innocent or one of the infected.

Depending on the role you’ve been given in Deceit, you will either have to collaborate with other players to escape the wrath of the infected or take down innocent players without being found out. While strategizing is a crucial element, you have to be wary of the psychological warfare present, as well.

Impressive attention to detail

Deceit is a thrilling and action-packed multiplayer game that can test both your strategic and shooting skills. The main goal is to vote out those suspected of infection and strengthen your chances of survival. All-in-all, there will be three zones that you need to traverse. There will be a blackout period that will regularly occur at the end of each zone which enables the infected players to transform into their terror form and attack.

Apart from its fast-paced combat and strategic gameplay, psychological mind games are also part of its challenge. Its gameplay could be found similar to other widely popular games such as Among Us and Dead By Daylight. With high-quality 3D graphics, players are able to fully immerse themselves in the setting and feel all of the game’s thrills and scares. The user interface it showcased is impressive and well-polished, as well. 

One notable concern for players, though, is the lengthy wait time that you are required to sit through when matching with other players randomly. Unfortunately, you cannot choose to play with an AI when less than six players are present in a group. Additionally, it lacks a more comprehensive tutorial system, which can make it difficult for new players to adapt to the fast-paced environment.

Sniff out the enemies

Deceit’s intriguing plot and immersive gameplay are commendable features that push it as a highly recommended title, especially if you want to play with friends. It’s a more bone-chilling alternative to games like Among Us with an eerie concept and more heart-pounding action sequences. While it can benefit from more detailed tutorials and solo-player-friendly modes, it still offers an exhilarating experience that keeps players on their toes at all times.
