Dashy Smash, or Face smashing jetpack arcade, is a free-to-download arcade runner sporting retro-inspired graphics, featuring a tiny character with jetpacks. There are many more unlockable characters, though, but obtaining all of them will cost you coins—the game’s virtual currency. It also promotes competition among players as those with the highest scores are displayed on the leaderboard.

With plenty of upgrades to unlock

As for Dashy Smash’s controls, tap the left and right sides of your screen to make your character fly in either direction. Then double-tap the screen to activate their special ability. When activated, your character will destroy all rock platforms it collides with for a few seconds. However, the teal energy bar at the bottom of the screen must be fully charged before you can use it.

You can fill up the energy bar by collecting batteries. Unlike the rock platforms—which you should avoid hitting if your ability is not fully charged—you can bust through wooden planks without a hitch. There are chests on platforms, too, and obtaining one will reward you with stars or coins. Hitting the cogwheels, on the other hand, will launch your character in the opposite direction. 

As you fly higher and higher, do expect to encounter cannons, spiders, and many other traps and obstacles. This title also features a comprehensive upgrade tree containing a wide variety of unlockable upgrades to make the game more fun and manageable for the player. However, unlocking everything can be a drag since they require coins, which means you have to play the game repeatedly.

Repetitive but still a pleasure to play

Overall, Dashy Smash offers the ultimate fun for all players, with the gameplay simple and addictive enough for beginners to dip into. To an extent, it’s also challenging as you have to maneuver through obstacles and fly at greater heights without getting hit—unless your character’s special ability is fully charged. Unfortunately, this title suffers from repetitive grinding, so expect to play again and again to obtain all unlockables.
